Why us?

Motivations to join

Philippe:

We joined the Climate Dividends initiative from the beginning 3 main reasons.

First - to measure our avoided emissions. For a while, having an activity that avoids emissions, we wanted to measure them but couldn’t find a reliable metric to do so. That's why we joined the initiative from the beginning.

Second - to engage with our financial partners on the topic, both our banks and our shareholders. Climate Dividends are a great way to have precise and insightful discussions on our company's positive impact with those partners.

Third - to engage our employees in our decarbonization mission. We have discovered that the perspective to maximize our positive impact was much more exciting and engaging for our employees rather than just focusing on reducing our footprint. Both efforts are obviously complementary, but Climate Dividends helps us motivate everyone!
use case

Lower debt interest rates

Philippe:

We had the idea to include Climate Dividends in our contractual relationship with our banks. A small fraction of our acquisition debt includes an environmental incentive and we recommend using Climate Dividends for this incentive. This environmental incentive allows us, depending on the targets we reach every year, to lower our debt interest rates.

This incentive is not "massive" right now, but it’s a start and we expect all debts of this type in the future to include such indicators. It’s a good way to prepare for the future!

Next steps

Philippe:

I would recommend Climate Dividends to all companies who are convinced that their action avoids emissions and who are frustrated to not be able to communicate it "properly".

At Acorus, we have a wide range of expertises in the building sector, and many of them are useful in the transition: thermal insulation specialists, but also electricians, heating specialists, carpenters for windows.

Basically, in the building sector, there are a lot of companies that could be interested by Climate Dividends.
